On behalf of the organization of Nordic energy regulators, NordREG, Nordic Energy Research is currently inviting bids for studies concerning demand side flexibility and storage in the Nordic electricity market.

The topic of demand side flexibility in the electricity market has been explored over the last years in both Nordic and European settings. This is due to the large increase of intermittent electricity generation in the system. Further studies on demand side flexibility at a Nordic level would strengthen the competence and common Nordic understanding of what role demand side flexibility and storage could play in the future, and be an enabler of common Nordic positions at the European arenas.

Project 1: Demand side flexibility from a Nordic Distribution System Operator perspective

The purpose of this study is to

  • explore the concept of DSO’s use of flexibility as a mean to avoid or postpone network investments and reduce or avoid other cost.
  • get a better understanding of the current situation in the Nordic countries (Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland), and to get a view on the realism of the concept in the short and medium term

Project 2: Meta-study on demand side flexibility and energy storage

The purpose of this study is to

  • explore available information on demand side flexibility in a Nordic perspective and highlight key findings that may develop into concrete measures
  • make an overview of existing barriers and of potential and value for demand side flexibility in the Nordic market

Each project will result in a report where these topics are explored. For each project the total maximum value of the contract is 440 000 NOK ex VAT.

Deadline for both tenders is set at 23.01.2017 at 12:00 CET
