The first stage of the Nordic Energy Challenge 2024 is concluded, with seven candidates advancing to the second phase. The next step for the qualified participants is to submit their final proposals by 23 August.

- Name of idea: Smart Home Energy Management Systems (SmartHEM): A Pathway to Carbon-Neutrality
- Summary of idea: We aim to develop a home energy management system that integrates renewable energy and electric vehicles to achieve carbon neutrality. The system will reduce energy costs and battery aging while maintaining reliability and home comfort, using advanced learning tools and automatic control theory. Citizen engagement through community-based pilot programmes and educational workshops will accelerate the shift towards clean, affordable home energy, thereby contributing to the European Green Deal’s carbon neutrality goals by 2050.
