The Nordic Electricity Market Forum is the annual meeting place for the Nordic electricity sector, organised by the Nordic Electricity Market Group (EMG).
Since its establishment in 2018, the Forum has brought together representatives from across the Nordic electricity sector, including market participants, system operators, regulators, authorities, industry organisations, power exchanges, technology providers, researchers and other stakeholders. The forum provides a unique opportunity for dialogue across national borders and across different parts of the electricity value chain.
The purpose of the forum is threefold:
- To build and strengthen a common understanding of key developments affecting Nordic electricity markets.
- To identify Nordic perspectives and areas of shared interest.
- To communicate Nordic experiences and viewpoints to national authorities, policymakers and European processes.
The most recent Nordic Electricity Market Forum was held in Helsinki on 11 -12 May 2026 and focused on flexibility in Nordic electricity markets. Discussions highlighted both opportunities and challenges related to the integration of flexibility resources, market development, system operation and the evolving roles of market participants. Key messages from the Forum 2026 can be found here.
Previous forums have addressed a range of topics of strategic importance to the Nordic electricity market, including Nordic competitiveness, market design, security of supply, electrification and the green transition.
Participation in the forum is by invitation. Most invitations are distributed through Nordic and national electricity sector organisations to ensure broad representation from across the region.
The Nordic Electricity Market Group operates under the Nordic Council of Ministers and serves as a platform for Nordic cooperation on the development of well-functioning, efficient and competitive electricity markets.
The next Nordic Electricity Market Forum is expected to take place in Copenhagen in spring 2027.
