Transport Statistical Data and Projections in The Baltic States

Transport Statistical Data and Projections in The Baltic States looks into the historical characterisation of the transport sector in the Baltic States. The report gives an overview of the actual policy framework and evaluates the alternative energy sources that can be adopted by the Baltic States to decarbonize the transport sector.

The Baltic road transport sector has been modelled by using the historical data collected and the National Energy and Climate Plans submitted to the European Commission on December 2018, and a quantitative analysis reveals that the three states have a complex pathway towards the decarbonization of the transport sector as the transport demand and energy consumption is likely to increase by 2030.

A basis for policy recommendation to the Baltic Governments is offered, these policies are oriented to the alternative fuels promotion, modal shifting, among other successful international practices within the transport sector.

Transport Statistical Data and Projections in The Baltic States is a project made by ABB for Nordic Energy Research, on behalf of the joint Baltic-Nordic Energy Research programme. Read more about the Joint Baltic-Nordic Energy Research programme here.
