Meet Tore Franck, Nordic Energy Research’s newest team member. Tore joins us as Senior Accounting Adviser, with responsibility for economics and administrative operations. His work includes budget development, integration of financial systems, day-to-day accounting, and reporting. A key part of this position is collaboration with colleagues and management.

“The daily joy of performing varied and meaningful tasks in dialogue with co-workers is what I find most rewarding about my role,” says Tore.

Born in northern Norway, raised in Oslo, and educated in Denmark, Tore embodies a many-sided Nordic perspective. He calls himself “Nordlending, Oslogutt, and Danish” – a blend that informs both his worldview and his professional approach.

From personal awareness to professional purpose

Tore’s interest in energy developed gradually. As he observed growing environmental challenges – pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and dependence on fossil fuels – he became increasingly committed to supporting renewable energy solutions.

“Access to clean food, air, and water is increasingly jeopardised. It is therefore important to facilitate a society and everyday life that is as renewable-energy-friendly as possible,” Tore explains.

This has inspired Tore’s way of living. In 2010, his family took concrete steps by creating an ecological kitchen garden and removing their paraffin heater. In 2015, they transitioned from their diesel vehicle to an electric car. These choices significantly reduced the household’s carbon footprint and strengthened Tore’s commitment to sustainable living.

Tore grows various types of lettuce, squash, cucumbers, potatoes, currants, blueberries, chillies, tomatoes and much more in his kitchen garden.

Given Tore’s sustainable lifestyle and Norwegian-Danish profile, he finds Nordic Energy Research’s mission and programmes meaningful and compelling.

“Nordic cooperation is a crucial driver of energy progress and Nordic Energy Research plays a pivotal part in fostering connections among institutions, corporations, and people across the Nordic countries. This collaboration strengthens the region’s collective influence in Europe and promotes shared goals in renewable energy, efficiency, and security,” says Tore.

He looks forward to contribute to this cooperation through his role at Nordic Energy Research.

“By supporting a common Nordic platform for producing, transforming, distributing, storing, and using renewable energy, we can create solutions that extend far beyond national borders,” he says.
