Ten years after the Paris Agreement, significant progress on clean energy has been made – but the pace is too slow. With a track record of regional cooperation and ambitious policies, the Nordics show what is possible. When the world hesitates, can they inspire bolder climate action?
Bringing Nordic perspectives to the Amazonas
This year Brasil, and the city of Belém in the Amazonas, hosts the COP30. During the conference countries are expected to present updated Nationally Determined Contributions with new emission reduction plans for 2035, as required by the agreement’s five-year review cycle. The conference will therefore serve as a critical deadline to assess the Paris Agreement’s progress and shape the next phase of global climate action.

Nordic Energy Research will host four seminars and a lunch mingle between the 13-15 November. We will highlight crucial topics for increased transition speed such as energy security, clean energy ambitions, hydrogen and equality. All our events will take place in the Nordic Pavilion in the Blue Zone.

Thursday 13 november
High-level panel: Securing energy in an uncertain world
11.30-12.15
Nordic Pavilion, Blue Zone
A troubled world calls for stronger energy cooperation. Climate risks, geopolitical tensions, and volatile energy markets all show how fragile energy systems can be. Learning from these challenges, how can we balance the trilemma of securing energy supply, energy equity, and environmental sustainability? And how can resilient energy systems be built when the world faces uncertainty on all fronts?
Friday 14 november
High-level dialogue: When global clean energy ambitions fade – who can lead the way?
14.00-14.45
Nordic Pavilion, Blue Zone
Ten years after the Paris Agreement, significant progress on clean energy has been made – but the pace is too slow. Unless global ambitions rise, climate targets won’t be met. The Nordic governments share a joint vision of a carbon-neutral region in line with the goals set a decade ago in Paris. With a track record of regional cooperation and ambitious policies, the Nordics show what is possible. When the world hesitates, can they inspire bolder climate action?
Saturday 15 November
Two hemispheres, one energy future – the potential of hydrogen valleys
11.30-12.15
Nordic Pavilion, Blue Zone
The Nordics and South America are frontrunners in renewable energy and clean hydrogen. Both regions invest in hydrogen from renewable sources as a cornerstone for industry and maritime sectors. By building Hydrogen Valleys – linking production, transport, e-fuels and green shipping corridors, innovation and deployment of hydrogen can be increased. Can we together unlock hydrogen’s full potential for the global energy transition?
Nordic Energy Network Lunch Mingle
Prel. 12.30-13.15
Nordic Pavilion, Blue Zone
Nordic Energy Research invites international and Nordic experts, policymakers, academics, and industry representatives to connect and exchange insights at the Nordic Pavilion. This networking event provides an informal space to share perspectives and explore new collaborations. What new ideas and alliances can emerge to advance the global energy transition?
Can equality drive the green transition?
14.00-14.45
Nordic Pavilion, Blue Zone
The Nordic region is known for its commitment to equality, yet women remain underrepresented in the energy sector – one of the least gender-diverse industries. This is not only a Nordic issue but a shared global challenge. The event highlights why gender balance matters for the green transition, sharing overlooked perspectives and best practice examples. Can equality become a driving force for a more sustainable energy future?
