On January 25, 2019, the prime ministers in Finland, Iceland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark signed the “Declaration on Nordic Carbon Neutrality” where they committed to working towards a carbon neutral Nordic region.

As part of this commitment, the prime ministers are stepping up Nordic cooperation to decarbonise the transport sector.

Renewable electricity from wind and solar energy is growing rapidly in the Nordic countries. This provides an opportunity for decarbonisation of the road transport sector. The goal of Nordic P2X for sustainable road transport is to assess the potential for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from road transport in the Nordic region using different forms of electrode fuels.
