Get to know this year’s challengers, one by one, and their ideas in support of the green transition. One of the applicants is Alfred Arnborg.

  • Name: Alfred Arnborg
  • Position: MSc International Energy and Economics
  • Institution: Sciences Po, Paris and Stockholm School of Economics
  • Name of idea: Developing an Arctic Hydrogen Strategy
  • Summary of idea: In my submission for this year’s Nordic Energy Challenge, I lay the groundwork for the development of an Arctic Hydrogen Strategy. First, I discuss the need for hydrogen in the Arctic area, with specific examples of applications that are particularly relevant for the region – from energy security in off-grid communities to transatlantic hydrogen airline hubs. Second, I elaborate on why we need a dedicated strategy to ensure an efficient roll-out. Lastly, I conclude by making recommendations for the process of developing the strategy, including which stakeholders to take into account, which goals to pursue and the optimal technological, geographical and temporal scope.

One of the challengers will be selected winner and receive their award at the conference The Future of Maritime Fuels on October 5–6th in Nuuk, Greenland.
