Daniel Kammen has worked with renewable energy and energy systems for many years, both in OECD and non-OECD countries. He was previously a Climate Envoy for the World Bank. He established RAEL (Renewable and Appropriate Energy Laboratory) at Berkeley, which has worked extensively on access to renewable energy in both heavy grid-connected systems and smaller off-grid systems.
We have invited Dr. Kammen to talk about the opportunities and obstacles for realising renewable energy development in developing countries. He is familiar with the many international initiatives in this field.
The focus of the seminar will be on what it takes to succeed in the massive development of renewables in developing countries, including risk reduction.
