From strategies to activities

The International Conference “From strategies to activities – Good practice examples of regional bioenergy promotion” will be organised in parallel with the 9th International exhibition „Environment and Energy 2013” in Riga 18th of October. On the first session of the Conference “Woody Biomass” there will be demonstration of sustainable and resource efficient use of woody biomass for bioenergy and overview of different kind of support mechanisms in the Baltic Sea Region countries. On the second session “Bio-waste and integrated solutions” will associate the best practice examples of integrated solutions for bioenergy production and development of agricultural green business. There will be also opportunity to ask questions to speakers and take part in the discussions about how to adapt the solutions demonstrated at the conference to other countries or how to develop the industry in general.

The language of the conference is English and Latvian – synchronic translation will be provided. Registration to the Conference “From strategies to activities – Please register at latest by 27.09.2013. to get the entrance invitation to the exhibition hall.

The objective of the project “Bioenergy Promotion 2” activities is to extend the strategic outputs of the main stage project into the Baltic Sea Region and national political arenas and also into the daily grind of utility companies and local and regional administration. On a more practical level, the Extension Stage activities will also provide direct support to seven demo regions implementing “Strategic Management Plans”. These plans have been developed during the main stage project phase and include the “Bioenergy Promotion” sustainability criteria and are integrated concepts to increase the use of bioenergy within a region but without harming the environment or posing a threat to food security.
