This year Nordic Energy Research will participate in the democracy festivals of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Our sessions will put the spotlight on the green energy transition in the Nordics and its role for energy security, climate goals, and competitiveness.

All our events are open to the public, and we encourage everyone interested to join us.

An uncertain world underscores the need for a green and resilient energy system

The green energy transition is crucial for both energy security and climate goals. However, as the transition loses momentum, we need answers to ever more pressing issues.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has shown how energy infrastructure can become a target during wartime. The Nordic energy system is deeply integrated and relies on the contribution of each country. But how resilient is the energy infrastructure in times of crisis?

When the pandemic hit the world, it exposed both the strengths and weaknesses of Nordic cooperation. What role does each country play if the system is put to the test?

In an increasingly uncertain world, the threats to the Nordic energy system are growing. The energy transition must now happen swiftly, sustainably, and strategically. Which investments will make the biggest difference? How can we build a green and resilient Nordic energy system together?

These are some of the questions we aim to explore further in panels featuring decision-makers, energy companies, and key stakeholders from each Nordic country. By identifying best practices across the Nordics, we hope to determine the crucial steps needed to build a green and resilient energy system in the region.
