SEV, the national energy company of the Faroe Isles, hosted a renewable energy summit 100by203o in Thorshavn in September 2016. The conference included both international and local issues on how to deal with the green energy shift.

The program spanned from the official opening of a new wind turbine plant to Tony Seba presenting his prediction for a near-future clean energy disruption. Among the presenters were Kári Mortensen, who presented the ongoing study on sustainable energy systems for sparsely populated areas, financed by the Nordic Council of Ministers. Kári emphasized that green options are available already. The Faroe Isles have the energy resources, there is technology at the market for a competitive price, and by including storage systems and smart energy management the local communities of the Faroe Islands can be role models for other small communities in the Nordic countries.
